Welcome to the land Down Under

After the relative heat and sun of Fiji it was a bit of a shock arriving in Sydney, which was pretty cold and drizzly. We headed straight into town to our hostel ‘Wake up’ which is pretty much right in the centre of the city. The hostel was recently voted best in the world so we thought this might be a good place to start off our adventures in Oz! Indeed, the place seemed to live up to its name, with excellent internet access, a bar and restaurant, café, TV room, kitchen and of course lots of good beds.

We checked in to a four bed dorm which we shared with a rather quiet girl from Belgium. It was almost like being in our own little room which was ideal. Since we arrived fairly early we settled in and soon ventured out to check out the city which is really nice, even in the rain! I have to say it didn’t take us too long to find the hostel bar ‘Side Bar’ and start on the schooners of Tooeys.

As the night kicked off we soon met up with a few random people for our first night in Sydney. It feels good to have finally made it to Oz!
