We soon got back on the road and started heading further north up the coast. Our next leg of the journey took us from Port Macquarie up past Byron Bay and Surfers Paradise. We initially planned to make a pit stop at Byron but upon arrival soon changed our minds. There was a large music festival in town this weekend so the whole place was rammed with people. Not chance of getting somewhere to stay here.
Any place missed on the way up the coast can always be visited on the way back down so we weren’t too fussed about hitting every location.
By the time we got up past Surfers Paradise it was getting close to five o’clock which is approaching sunset so we quickly found a site to stay for the night. Coomera was the chosen spot which is not really much of a town but more of a motorway pit stop. Instead of spending what was looking to be a pretty dull night in the van we decided to venture out to a couple of local pubs to meet some locals.
The night out turned out to be rather dull. Sunday night in New York was a pretty quiet affair never mind some random wee town in Oz so we couldn’t complain. So an early night for the lads on the road, which meant we saved our pennies too.
