Fitzroy Island

Fitzroy Island was out next trip out to the reef. This was truly awesome! A much nicer island, further out from the coast we took a ferry there and after spending some time on land headed out to two different reef locations on a speed boat! Bouncing off every wave was quality (thought the boat was gonna flip a few times!) but once we were in the water snorkellung it got a lot better.

The Barrier Reef is something everyone should try and see at least once in their lives. This place is probably the most alien you'll ever sea as well as the most beautiful. A short note ho... make sure you don't touch the coral. a) you'll kill it and b) it'll probably sting you! I had a rash on my leg for about a month after brushing against the reef!

The fery ride to the island was rather windy! We managed to entertain ourselves by jumping into the wind and making parachutes out of towels. Very mature : )

When we arrived at the first beach (we were first there) we found this little guy. He wasn't too happy that we interrupted his sun bathing.

He decided to scare us by raising up on his hind legs. I think it worked cos I wet my pants.

How about this for tropical paradise!

Sorry we don't have any pictures of under the reef but the camera's obvioulsy couldn't handle the salt water. You'll just have to trust me when I saw it was incredible!
